The Japanese heartnut is an ornamental nut tree which grows to a height of 40 ft. and has a spreading habit. This heartnut variety bears flattened, heart-shaped nuts with a shell that usually cracks open in two halves, allowing for easy extraction of the fine-flavored kernel.
It's very fast growing once established, hardy, and is tropical in appearance. The nuts hang in clusters similar to grapes, with up to 20 nuts in a cluster.
This size cannot ship after March/April when it breaks dormancy so order early.
