The‘Black Mission Fig is the most famous fig in cultivation. It can produce two sizeable crops a year and has a sweet distinct flavor. It is delicious whether eaten fresh or dried. It is known for its blackish-purple skin with a strawberry colored center. This fig produces a heavy first crop (breba) in early summer and then its main crop in Fall. The plant is approx. 2-3 feet tall or taller and should bear fruit in 1-2 years.
If you live above zone 7, you can easily grow this fig in a pot and winter it indoors.
